sometimes it's good actually to "dopamine-hack" into doing things that I get validation and enjoyment out of.

sometimes it's good that number go up makes me feel good actually.

how does this resolve with the fact that metrics and gamification has led us to a hell-world where we have dopamine slaves doing anything to make the number go up?

Maybe what makes it alright is that I'm in charge of the metrics service. it takes effort gamifying something to be dopaminergic, it takes effort dopamine jacking. it takes intention, a lot of it actually.

when I set up my own metrics platform, I can define the kind of information it collects, the metrics I'm targetting. it takes effort to crete a more dopaminergic system.
